The ICCA Bar Course Bursary Scheme supported by the Commercial Bar Association

The ICCA is delighted to announce that the Commercial Bar Association (“COMBAR”) has generously agreed to offer financial support to students on its Bar Course.

Those applying to commence their studies with the ICCA from September 2024 onwards are now eligible to be considered for one of the bursaries funded by COMBAR of £10,000 towards the fee for the ICCA’s Bar Course. This is in addition to the ICCA bursaries already funded by the Chancery Bar Association.

COMBAR is the specialist association of the English and Welsh Bar for commercial barristers.  Its members represent clients in commercial disputes across a range of sectors including banking, insurance, reinsurance, shipping, commodities and international trade.

The new bursaries are aimed at those who have:

  • a demonstrable commitment to the work of the Commercial Bar;
  • significant financial difficulty taking up a place on the ICCA Bar Course without a bursary; and,
  • a background that is under-represented at the Bar generally, or at the Commercial Bar particularly.

Further information about the ICCA Bursary Scheme is available here.

The number of bursaries available is dependent on the funding that each SBA has kindly been able to make available. Further bursaries will be advertised as and when funding from other Specialist Bar Associations is confirmed.
