Helpful resources for students to tackle mental health and wellbeing issues during the COVID-19 outbreak

We understand that some of you may be finding the current situation extremely stressful and we are concerned to be able to help you manage your anxiety at this challenging time.

We have put together a list of resources that you might find helpful to access.

Mental Health Foundation

The Mental Health Foundation’s mission is to help people understand, protect and sustain their mental health. Their website offers practical advice and includes useful videos and podcasts. There is currently useful advice on “How to look after your mental health during the Coronavirus outbreak”.

Mind

Mind is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales. Their website contains information and advice on a broad range of mental health and wellbeing related topics. The information provided includes the excellent “How to…” and “Understanding…” series of fact sheets. Their info line (open Mon-Fri from 9m to 6pm) provides an information and signposting service, where people can ask about mental health problems and find out where to get help near them.

NHS

The NHS website includes a very useful section on mental health and wellbeing, offering practical advice to help people feel mentally and emotionally better. The information provided includes useful self-help and support guides, including a series of mental wellbeing audio guides covering topics such as low mood and depression, anxiety control training and unhelpful thinking.

The NHS website has a section on wellbeing while staying at home during the coronavirus outbreak with special tips about how to manage your uncertainty.

As well as this list of websites, you can easily find a plethora of self-help resources and mindfulness apps. Lots of trainers and yoga teachers are delivering online lessons and morning mediations.
